Lewes bounced back from their FA Trophy drubbing with a convincing victory at Chichester.
The Rooks had crashed out of the Trophy 4-1 at home to Bishop's Stortford on Saturday but there was no such embarrassment at Church Road.
On a bitterly cold evening, Anthony Storey gave Lewes the lead with a quarter of an hour on the clock, after good work by impressive debutant Craig Dobson.
The game might well have been over as a contest by half-time had it not been for an inspired performance by home keeper Barry Squires.
However, a second goal eventually arrived soon after the interval, when a beautiful exchange of passes inside the penalty area between Storey and Lee Newman left the young striker with a simple finish.
The home side never gave up and had a couple of half chances to reduce the deficit before Newman slid home a third late on to round off a good night for the visitors.
Substitute Luke Cornwall also seemed to have got on the score sheet in injury time, only to have his header disallowed for offside.
