It was good to see a recent Looking Back article on John and Jennifer Nicks, two now-forgotten local heroes of the skating world.
I have suggested a plaque be put up to them where their family business once was in Duke Street but have received no reply.
I wrote to Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company twice suggesting their names could be put on a bus but again I received no replies.
I also took a file to the Marina when a Walk of Fame was in the making. "These are just the sort of names we need", I was told. Nothing came of that either.
So what did John and Jennifer Nicks achieve?
1. British Ice-Skating Pairs Champions seven times up to 1952.
2. European Ice-Skating Pairs Champions 1953.
3. World Ice-Skating Pairs Champions 1953.
They should have been rock stars or soap stars.
