Your editorial appears to be saying it's okay for Brighton to have the second highest number of Parking tickets issued in the UK (The Argus, November 23).

However, the message that comes across from the national survey is that if you live in or visit Brighton, you should expect to be subject to the Parking Taliban (as previous correspondents have labelled our traffic wardens).

That, of course, is if you can actually drive into or through the city as its roads are gradually closed off through traffic "improvements".

It seems extraordinary that Brighton and Hove issues more parking tickets than the great commercial centres of Liverpool or Manchester. Either enforcement is so zealous that Stalin is smiling down on (or up at, depending on your point of view) the council or we really are an unruly bunch of people.

I am totally confident the council will clarify this anomaly. No doubt even now Ken Bodfish is instructing officials to abide by the National Parking Adjudication Service's demand for Brighton and Hove City Council, among others, to offer more transparency and accountability in their activities relating to parking enforcement policy.
