Jenny Eclair's one-woman show traces the life of Carol Fletcher, a brassy market trader from Dewsbury who dreams of leaving her mundane "black and white" existence.
Her big chance comes when a reality TV show documents life in the market and stumbles across Carol's earthy charms.
The media circus takes her to London, where she becomes a guest of Richard and Judy, goes shopping with Lorraine Kelly and presides at an awards ceremony.
This comedic play charts her rise and public fall from grace, as stardom eventually gets the better of her. It highlights the shallowness of fame and the difficulties of breaking away from a grey and unfulfilling past.
Unfortunately the gags didn't flow with enough regularity and the constant stream of F-words couldn't fill the gap.
However, some genuinely poignant scenes saved the performance, as fame ultimately destroys Carol and ends up mocking her childhood dreams.
