Hastings-based Richard Yule, the chief executive of the English Table Tennis Association, moved to play in the British League Veterans League with plenty of success.
Playing for Surrey-based Lyncrest, he overpowered five players ranked above him.
They were John Hilton (No.1), Joe Kennedy (3), Paul Giles (4), Brian Johns (6) and Keith Williams who is No.8.
Yule, 54, who captained Scotland for 20 years, is hoping to move into the veterans' top five and be chosen to play for England in forthcoming internationals.
Two more ETTA staffers had a successful weekend.
Also in Stoke, Sheila King defeated one of her main rivals, England No.7 Brenda Buoey (Lancashire), in the veterans' singles whilst national development manager Diccon Gray won the open veterans' singles in Folkestone.
