The concerns which the ordinary people of Telscombe and Saltdean have about the fencing of their Tye are that the work being carried out is not as it was originally conceived.

Locals understood the Tye would remain as it was but with fencing to keep out "unwanted guests".

It now resembles Fort Knox, with barbed wire fences, five bar gates, earth barriers and ugly cattle grids.

Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a clear reference point for local folk to express their opinions or hear a coherent response to their concerns.

I attended the Telscombe Town Council meeting on October 16 and it was shambolic and misleading. I have therefore written to the council asking it to consider a public meeting specifically set up to discuss people's concerns about what is happening.

Hopefully, this would give people a way to air any grievances and have them recorded in an orderly manner. Without some formal complaints procedure, I am concerned that anarchy might prevail .

So, come on, Telscombe Town Council, communicate openly and honestly with the people you represent.
