"It's the Catch 22 we didn't realise," say Jonny Quality.

"We're getting all this fun, a little notoriety and kudos, whatever, but it's Norm's show and we're his bitches right now."

Which is why, after a national tour with Fatboy Slim and various TV appearances (Jonathan Ross last month, Pop World and possibly TOTP this week) in which they've accompanied the DJ's upcoming single Wonderful Night, Brighton's favourite/only hillbillys are so glad to be playing this comparatively humble double-header at Komedia.

"We can't wait for Komedia because we finished the tour three or four weeks ago and we're desperate to play our set again," they say. "This is our songs, our show."

For the uninitiated, Jonny Quality songs are infectious knees-ups between scratch decks and a lapsteel in which punk, surf and hip-hop sounds are grafted onto old-skool country templates.

Their shows are joyous celebrations of guitar theatrics and gurning, with the added attraction of watching four young men spoil their new Gresham Blake suits.

Los Albertos, meanwhile, have been bringing their blend of ska, swing jazz, drum 'n' bass and klezmer to the dance floors of Europe since 2001.

Described as makers of fairground dance music, these Komedia favourites write their own music as well as offering twisted interpretations on traditional jazz and popular music classics.
