Matt Prior is facing an anxious wait before discovering whether he will face Zimbabwe on Friday.

The Sussex wicketkeeper-batsman made 17 on his England debut batting at three in yesterday's seven-wicket warm-up win over Namibia in Windhoek.

Prior was expected to open the innings but coach Duncan Fletcher gave Ian Bell another opportunity after his duck in Sunday's game and the Warwickshire responded with 51 out of a first-wicket stand of 110 with Vikram Solanki, who top-scored with 82 off 76 balls.

Prior made 17 before he drove loosely at Louis Burger and was caught at mid-on but England eased past Namibia's 219-8 with 6.1 over their 50 overs to spare.

Solanki's place in the opening game of the five-match series in Harare seems secure and with skipper Michael Vaughan and Andrew Strauss both certain to return after resting yesterday, Bell and Prior are effectively fighting for one place.

Meanwhile, Vaughan has criticised the Zimbabwe government's decision to refuse several British media organisations entry for England's one-day series.

Both BBC radio and television have been prevented from entering the country to cover the series.

Vaughan said: "I think it's totally wrong - I'm flabbergasted by the decision."
