LongMan Records, the eclectic independent record label, says its collaboration with distribution company Proper Distribution has been an overwhelming success.
LongMan's first release - The Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain's album The Secret Of Life - became a favourite on Johnnie Walker's Radio 2 show earlier this year.
Now the Shoreham-based company, owned and run by maverick concert guitarist Richard Durrant, is expanding its catalogue with albums from the weird and the wonderful, including one-man band legend Don Partridge. Mr Durrant is about to add a solo album, Music From The Colourdome, to his own list on the label.
He said modern technology had become a liberating force in music: "In the recording studio and in the market place artists no longer have to suffer the stifling attitudes of unmusical business people. Proper really understands this creative ethos."
Proper, the UK's largest independent music distributor, supplies HMV,Virgin, MVC and Borders.
