Councillor Sue John says she doesn't have "any policy differences" from outgoing MP Ivor Caplin.
Well, if she intends to replace him as MP for Hove and Portslade, she'd better find some. Caplin's dogged pro-war stance has made him unelectable.
He refused to follow his constituents on this issue and now a promising ministerial career is nixed.
Given the Labour Party's history over the past two decades, it would be more than a little ironic if the Brighton and Hove Labour Party allowed the Conservatives to sneak back in by selecting another pro-war candidate.
