M Dyson (Letters, November 5) must have visited the Old Steine gardens in Brighton just after the summer bedding had been removed.
The beds have now been filled with more than 15,000 wallflower plants. The northern part of the lawn has also just been laid with new turf. New fencing has been installed and a new hedge planted.
Indeed, during the 2004 South and South East in Bloom competition, the judges said they were "most impressed with the bedding displays at Palmeira Square and Old Steine".
I would like to assure residents the City Parks team has every intention of achieving the same standard, or better, in 2005.
