In October 2002, under the chairmanship of Tehmtan Framroze, the Equalities Forum of the Brighton and Hove City Council established an action group to look into the services for the deaf, blind and deafblind.
After interviewing many blind people, it soon became obvious one of the main problems the blind encountered was pavement clutter, including A-boards and parked cars on pavements.
It was agreed one of the recommendations should be "pavements are for people".
Now we have the management of Cityclean informing the residents of Hollingbury and Patcham that wheelie bins can be left on the pavement.
Cityclean managers should read this report and agree that pavements are for people, not for wheelie bins.
