Joe Dolan revealed today that he wants to extend his loan at Crawley.

The 24-year-old defender marked the last game of his month-long spell from Millwall by scoring the winning goal three minutes from time against Woking on Saturday.

Dolan said: "I hope it isn't my last game. I have enjoyed playing here, it's a lovely stadium with good support so I would like to play a few more games.

"I only live about 40 minutes away, so as long as I am playing I would like to stay here a little bit longer."

Dolan, whose career at Millwall has been decimated by injuries, admits he is looking for a move away from The Den and has not ruled out signing for Reds permanently.

He said: "I spoke to my agent and my club and they said I probably need to go back down the divisions to build myself up. There are a few clubs looking to sign me but there is nothing immediate.

"At the moment I haven't got any other offers on the table so if they (Crawley) want me to stay then I would love to.

"If it means signing here with a clause which means I can go back and move on, that is probably the most likely thing I would do.

"Obviously I want to go back there (Millwall), but my contract is up at the end of the year. My aim is to show them I deserve a new one but if that doesn't happen then I have to put myself in the shop window."

Saturday's victory was a perfect example of the role confidence plays in winning matches.

Reds have suffered from a major lack of it in away games. You can see it drain from the players with every goal they concede and every chance they miss.

It is one of the main reasons they have been unable to win on their travels since the start of the season.

But at Broadfield Stadium it is a different story.

They did not play particularly well against Woking but never gave up and got their reward.

Chances went begging and it looked as if they would pay when the visitors cancelled out Allan Tait's early strike five minutes from time.

But on their own patch, the players refuse to be beaten and rather than let their heads drop, Dolan headed home the winner two minutes later to extend Crawley's unbeaten home run to eight games.

Reds do not have a league fixture this week, having been knocked out of the FA Cup, and the players will work on building confidence away from home.

Manager Francis Vines has arranged a friendly at Ryman premier division side Northwood on Saturday.

He said: "We could have brought a league game forward but decided to arrange a friendly to try and get this away-day hoodoo out of the way.

"It will give us a chance to work on certain things. Our attacking from corners and free kicks was much better. We spent a bit of time on it during the week and it showed.

"We now have two weeks to spend more time on doing those sorts of things and hopefully our quality will pick up even more."

Vines is looking to bring new faces in by Saturday following the financial crisis at Hornchurch.

The Essex club have released most of their players and Vines is hoping to sign at least one.

He said: "Suddenly 24 players have come on the market and I'm in for some of them. I'm waiting for a couple of things to happen and hopefully it will be done by Saturday."

One new face could be former Crystal Palace trainee Scott Gooding, who watched the game.

But Vines would be wise to stick with the players who started against the Cards for a while longer.

Tait and Dan Marney, who were on the bench for most of the opening games of the season, have got better with every start and show that a bit of consistency would benefit Reds.

Tait took just 32 seconds to give Reds the lead with a looping volley for his fifth of the season and could have gone on to get a hat-trick.

Marney, playing on the right wing, showed signs of being back to the kind of form which made Vines bend over backwards to snap him up from Albion last season. He looked lively and scored a delightful lob just before Woking's equaliser, which was bizarrely disallowed because the free kick which he intercepted was rolling and the Cards had to take it again.

Vines should make sure he signs Dolan. The giant defender has settled in well over four games and his partnership with captain Ian Simpemba in the heart of defence is rock-solid.

Simpemba said: "Joe is looking fit now and he has come in and done well.

"We are working well together but we will have to see if that can carry on."

The one defensive mistake unfortunately led to the Woking goal, Simpemba heading a cross straight to Amos Foweya when it would have been wiser to clear it the way it was coming.

But he could not have foreseen the spectacular volley which the substitute striker produced to score from the edge of the box.

Dolan made amends for his defensive partner's slip moments later with a fortunate goal.

His header from a Mo Harkin cross took two deflections and found the bottom corner.

Vines believes it was a bit of luck his side deserved.

He said: "I want that little bit of luck to come away from home because we have been unlucky so far. That has been the difference this season."
