Along with many bus drivers, passengers are becoming increasingly angry and frustrated by the long and unnecessary delays at Portslade railway crossing (The Argus, November 3).
Buses have been regularly delayed by up to 20 minutes before being allowed over the crossing.
The barriers are closed for far too long and this needs to be addressed by the relevant authorities.
One bus driver witnessed nine trains going through before the barriers were lifted. There are also similar problems at Shoreham.
A Network Rail spokesman has said that the line at Portslade is busy with 14 to 16 trains passing through an hour.
Railway crossings are dangerous and much care needs to be taken by all when using them.
However it is equally important that traffic is kept moving as much as possible at all times.
