An up-and-coming musician is hoping his first single could provide the soundtrack to a John Kerry victory in the US presidential elections.

Brighton dance music producer Flavorjenkins sent a copy of his satirical anti-war tune Mister Bush to the Democrat candidate's campaign team and thought no more of it.

So he was amazed to get a response several weeks later from Helen Marieskind, the finance director at Mr Kerry's Midwest office, thanking him for the song.

The anti-war house track, which has sold some 3,000 copies on the internet, has just one looping lyric: "Mr Bush, what kind of car do you drive?"

Stephen James, manager of Brighton record label Emoov, speaking on behalf of his publicity-shy artist, said: "It is basically supporting the theory that Bush sent America to war for oil.

"It's asking what kind of car he drives to need that much oil.

"We posted it to all 34 John Kerry campaign offices and thought it was incredible to get a response.

"It makes us think that John Kerry actually holds Mister Bush in the palm of his hands.

"Maybe they are all dancing in meetings to the soundtrack of what he hopes will be a sweet victory celebration.

"The track is doing very well and we are getting a lot of interest on the internet."

Half French and half English, Flavorjenkins was born in Brighton but grew up in Paris, where he made a name for himself on the dance music scene.

He is now back in Brighton and produces music from his home studio on the seafront.

Mister Bush is being released after it gained popularity through an internet competition.

Fledgling record producers from all over the world sent in remixes of the track for the chance to feature on the b-side of the single.

The competition was won by Japanese DJ Masatoshi Inaba.
