I was saddened to see that The Argus thought it necessary to devote its front page to Carol Barnes' drink-driving offence (October 14).

While this story is newsworthy, particularly as she is a public figure, the tabloid-style sensational headline was unnecessary.

As you know, Carol will have suffered much heartache since the tragic loss of her daughter.

Obviously, her recent offence had to be reported but a little show of humanity on your part would have been far more appropriate.

I have always read and considered The Argus to be a good community newspaper but on this occasion it was distasteful.
