Ringmer won an epic penalty shoot-out 15-14 against Sidlesham to book their place in the third round.

The game finished 2-2 after extra time but every player scored a penalty before the visitors finally missed.

Ringmer manager John Crumplin said: "I have been involved in shoot-outs during my professional days and taken a couple in sudden death but I have never been involved in one that has gone on this long.

"It took about half-an-hour and it got boring by the end."

Elsewhere, there was joint cause for a family celebration in the Dummer family after Midhurst did the double over Littlehampton.

Tim Dummer's division two Midhurst sunk Carl Stabler's division one high-fliers 4-3 while Sean Dummer, the manager's son, grabbed a hat-trick as their reserves sunk Littlehampton 4-3.

Robbie Pearce was the hero for Midhurst in the first team game as he battled on with a head injury to score two headers after Chris May and James Broom had brought the hosts level.

Tim said: "I'm delighted with the result and Robbie was outstanding. Littlehampton were 2-0 up but we plugged away and had to hang on at the end. It was a great day for the family."

Kris Trevor ended East Grinstead's goal drought with a hat-trick as the holders won their first game for five weeks.

Trevor, who has only just returned after a knee injury, opened his account after just 25 seconds in the 3-1 win over Southwick at East Court before completing his treble with goals either side of half-time.

Boss Bob Smith said: "I was hoping playing in the RUR again would inspire us. Hopefully this result will kick-start our season."
