Worthing manager Alan Pook has axed three of his summer signings after a mixed start to the season.

Ian Payne, Youness Nabil and Brahim Eloumani have all been released after failing to make an impact at Woodside Road.

In a week of changes, Roy Pook has joined Littlehampton for three months and goalkeeper Will Packham has returned to Bognor on loan.

On the arrivals front, midfielder Luke Gedling signed from Horsham last night to follow the capture of Matt Geard from Burgess Hill.

Manager Alan Pook said: "We just missed out on signing Luke last year when he left Aldershot. He was a player we really wanted to sign.

"He and Matt Geard both follow our policy of trying to sign young, local players."

Both players make their debut when the Rebels entertain Salisbury City tomorrow. The match goes ahead despite a fire at the ground on Tuesday which destroyed the Rebels Tavern.

Pook said: "Salisbury were the bookies favourites at the start of the season although they have started rather like us. Even at this stage of the season, it is a six-pointer because they will definitely be one of our rivals this year.

"We need our fans to show unity and lift us after the fire and going out of the FA Cup."

Nko Ekoku (shoulder) is Worthing's only absentee.
