I was not aware that Dutch elm disease had attacked trees in Portland Road (The Argus, September 20).
The trees in the road have always been trimmed nicely and look quite healthy.
It is a sad state of affairs, however, that newly planted trees in Portland Road may never have the benefit of getting disease as vandals have already chopped one down.
