In response to TM Bailey (Letters, September 14), about three years ago my car was virtually written off by a cyclist careering down New England Hill on the wrong side of the road.

My car's windscreen, bumper, offside front wing and rear door skin all had to be replaced at my expense.

The rider thankfully got up, although I wanted to put him down again.

Next time, I might not stop.

Cyclists (bless you) want a voice. Ooooh, okay.

A fair proportion of you but not all, I hasten to add, ride around like "king of the hill" in the ridiculous bike lanes all over town (most of which you guys ignore).

We schmucks (the horrible motorists) either part or fully finance these cycle lanes.

You have no accident cover nor any right to ride like fools. I have a suggestion for TM Bailey.

Get insurance and some kind of road tax if you're going to use the road (and jump red lights) and cycle lanes (which you haven't paid for) and I promise I'll listen to you.

Until then, please go away, I'm really not interested in your cause.

And stop being whinging winnies trying to run over pedestrians with your indestructible plastic helmet on. They didn't even have a vote on the irrelevant cycle lanes.
