Hove MP Ivor Caplin tried out a motorised scooter as he visited the city's Shopmobility scheme.

Mr Caplin was joined by Brighton MPs Des Turner and David Lepper to see how the Brighton-based service was getting on.

Brighton and Hove Shopmobility opened in April and is based at Churchill Square shopping centre.

The service hires out electric scooters and wheelchairs for people who find it difficult to walk around the shops.

It is paid for Brighton and Hove City Council and open three days a week. If it proves popular, it could move to five days a week.

Shopmobility co-ordinator David Johnson said: "They wanted to see how the service was run and seemed to be very impressed."
