according to the inspector's report, there are 27 grade II listed buildings in Falmer and a 13th century barn listed grade II*. There are also numerous listed buildings in Stanmer Park, as well as on the University of Sussex campus.

This is one among a number of other reasons he gives for refusing Falmer. None of the other sites is of the same historic value.

So why have the club and the council become obsessed with Falmer. Can they not admit to making a mistake in their first choice?

If granted permission for a stadium at Sheepcote for example, would Brighton and Hove Albion turn it down? Wisdom would suggest the time has come for a rethink.
