It's John Baine who has a problem with democracy (Letters, August 11). The referendum for Falmer was restricted to the residents of Brighton and Hove but the development is barely within the Brighton and Hove boundary.
If the whole of East Sussex had been polled the result would, I am sure, have been different. Many people who did not have the ability to vote will be affected. I live in Eastbourne and am sure my ability to travel west on the A27 would be affected on match days.
The club has yet to prove it has a need for a stadium but I am sure the residents of Withdean will be glad to see the back of them and, of course, they will have voted in favour of anywhere that was not Withdean.
