Hans Lobstein asks why I rode only for Barnardo's. How many charities would he ask me to ride for - two, four, ten more?
And how does one judge which of the many charities is worthy of receiving the funds? Should the monies be split equally or are some charities more worthy than others?
I don't know why Barnardo's don't pay their volunteers' expenses but isn't that one of the points of being a volunteer?
Finally, I would point out that not only all the monies raised this year by my cycle ride (£5000) but also all the monies raised by last year's ride (over £6000) went direct to Barnardo's Brighton and Hove Link Plus - I did indeed want a local project to benefit and requested that this was to be the case when I sent the monies to Barnardo's head office - a request to which they more than readily acceded.
