I agree with Adam Trimingham about the state of the Olympics and would love to see it return to only amateur competitors but I am afraid it will not as money is always the deciding factor.

Adam talks about Cycling as if all cyclists are on drugs, so he has lost interest.

I know Adam is a keen cyclist and I can assure him that not all cyclists are on drugs. Thousands of racing cyclists in this country compete without taking even a cup of coffee, let alone any other performance enhancing drugs.

They do it because they like riding a bike and enjoy the competition.

If Adam or anyone else would like to see good cycle racing, come to Preston Park track on a Wednesday evening from May until early August. This season we had children from the age of six while in the seniors we had one rider of 60.

Most weeks we had sixty or more riders competing in a friendly but competitive sport.

On Sunday, September 5, Preston Park Youth Cycling Club is holding a stage race starting at 10.30am.

A series of races for Under-8s to under-16s with separate results for girls and boys. Also a skill test in the Go-Ride series. More information at www.ppycc.org.uk.

Perhaps Adam would like to attend this day to really enjoy cycle racing.

I wish Adam all the best for his retirement, we will miss him.
