Like many local residents, I was saddened at the death of councillor Gerry Kielty (The Argus, August 9).
Serving my ward, Hangleton and Knoll, he always gave his best for the local community, achieving many advantageous improvements to the area. Also, serving on many committees, he made a great contribution to local politics with great honesty, conviction and determination.
He was very good at dealing with people, listening to their thoughts and concerns on local issues affecting the local community.
