A quarter of women who work for themselves in the media industry suffer from feelings of isolation, according to a survey.

A third who worked from home said it significantly reduced the opportunities to bounce ideas off people.

The poll was carried out at a Women in Media breakfast meeting at The Fringe restaurant in Kensington Gardens, Brighton.

The event, part of a series of meetings for women, was organised by business services and networking agency Wired Sussex.

The survey found most attendees - 84 per cent - were confident opportunities would grow for women in media.

Essential Business Guide author Julie Stanford, who spoke at the event, said: "Women need flexibility in their work and the media sector offers this opportunity.

"However, owning your own business can be an isolating experience."
