I wish Brighton and Hove city councillors had to deal with the same problems of finding a parking space and paying the exorbitant charges as ordinary residents.
They might then think twice before agreeing to increase charges for parking by two - and in some cases - five times as much.
They do not have to face this problem because there are many free places for them in the car park under the town hall. Soon, everyone else will have to pay £3 an hour.
There is also a free bus to take council staff to work.
Councillors can claim a generous allowance for driving to meetings and taxi fares.
I remember a correspondent in The Argus, asking the council to tell him how many car park spaces were available for staff and councillors but there was no reply. So now I am asking.
This increase affects everyone because business costs will increase and we'll all suffer.
