Individuals who are found guilty of crimes against animals, in particular badgers, our most protected mammal, should have psychological reports filed on them.

People who sneak out in the middle of the night to indulge in an orgy of killing need medical help.

When young, Jeffrey Dahmer, born in 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, impaled the heads of animals he killed on stakes in his yard.

His first murder was in 1978. A second murder followed in 1987. He killed another 15 young men, most of them in Milwaukee, over the next five years.

In the light of current research, especially in America, there are strong links among those who have a tendency to enjoy the abuse of animals to go on and indulge themselves in a more heightened thrill.

With this likely relationship in mind, it is incumbent upon the courts to fully understand the potential of animal abusers in order to protect us all.
