Chris Iwelumo is keen to re-sign for Albion, despite fierce competition for his services.

Two other First Division clubs and a cluster of Division Two teams are interested in the former Stoke striker, who has been offered a two-year contract by the Seagulls.

Iwelumo, 24, back from a two-week holiday, said: "There are a few other clubs interested, but Brighton have got to be my No. 1 choice. Hopefully we can come to an agreement."

Iwelumo, a free agent under the Bosman ruling, is leaving negotiations in the hands of his German agent. He expects his future to be resolved once Albion manager Mark McGhee returns from holiday at the end of the month.

The Scottish striker joined the Seagulls on a short-term contract from Stoke in March. His goals helped them into the play-offs and he won the penalty against Bristol City in the final at Cardiff, which Leon Knight converted to clinch promotion.

McGhee's four transfer targets to strengthen the squad include another forward, but that doesn't bother Iwelumo.

"You need competition," he said. "You cannot go a division higher with the same squad."

Albion have agreed a new two-year contract with club sponsors Skint Records.

The deal will run until the summer of 2006 which will extend the sponsorship to seven seasons - one of the longest running tie-ups in Football League history.

Albion will net a six-figure sum each season.
