Southern often come in for criticism but, reading the experiences of passengers, I am beginning to think it is the passengers at fault.
Ms De Angelis and her children inexplicably got separated while boarding the train (The Argus, June 7).
It's quite an achievement to lose one another when you're roughly 20cm apart. The bus is more convenient and, with more than seven different services, more frequent. You are also less likely to lose your children on it.
We then hear of a commuter who forgets to go to the toilet at the station before boarding the train, dashes to another train to use its toilet and then moans he had to do so.
People should consider toilets on a train a luxury. The journey from Brighton to Victoria is only 49 minutes and there are ample toilets at both ends.
If you can't go for 49 minutes without using the toilet, your next journey should be to your GP.
