Adam Virgo is poised to pledge his future to Albion until the summer of 2007.
The young defender is on the verge of signing a new three-year contract with the Seagulls.
"They have offered me three years and I am discussing it with my agent at the moment," Virgo revealed.
"We are just tying up a few loose ends and there shouldn't be any problems."
Brighton-born Virgo, 21, played a pivotal part in Albion's promotion via the play-offs.
His last-gasp equaliser in extra-time in the second leg of the semi-final against Swindon at Withdean kept the Seagulls' hopes alive.
Virgo then slotted one of the penalties in the shoot-out as Albion booked their place in the final at Cardiff, where they beat Bristol City.
"They see me as a player for the future and the contract is a nice reward," said the centre-half turned rightback.
"Three years is what I was looking for. I can concentrate on improving as a player without worrying about my future."
Five of Albion's other Cardiff heroes, Guy Butters, Nathan Jones, Chris Iwelumo, Paul Reid and John Piercy, have been offered new contracts of at least a year.
Albion report back for pre-season training on July 5 and play their first friendly at Worthing on July 13.
