So the Bible is a "wonderful book" (Letters, May 28) and we should follow all of its teachings?

Perhaps Mrs. Chippendale is in favour of the biblical law that requires women to marry the men that rape them (Deuteronomy 22:28-29)?

Perhaps she also believes our efforts at space exploration could be improved by adopting the biblical belief that the sky is "hard as a mirror of cast bronze" (Job 37:18)?

Hopefully, on reflection, she'll follow Robert Ingersoll's advice:

"Push from the throne of your brain the cowled form of superstition - then read the Holy Bible and you will be amazed that you ever, for one moment, supposed a being of infinite wisdom, goodness and purity to be the author of such ignorance and of such atrocity."
