Hands up who knows the difference between a Tweenie and a Fimble?

Certainly not the person who put in a picture of the latter thinking it was the former in The Argus on Saturday. But Alice Beattie, nine, from Hove, Rachel Burns, 11, from Portslade, and Rachel Jeffs, seven, from Brighton, do.

Alice explains: "I have twin sisters so have to watch pre-school programmes. As my mum was flicking through The Argus, she read there was going to be a Tweenies movie made. She showed me the article and I noticed the picture with it was of a Fimble."

Sorry and well spotted, girls!

Nick Gully, from Brighton, was amused by our report in the evening edition on Thursday last week stating that during an altercation between residents and travellers police "tried to calm the confrontation and arrested a man in possession of a knife and a woman".

Nick asks: "Surely there must have been some mitigating circumstances? Should we bring back the birch after all?"

Sport now, and Andy Naylor's report of the Albion's victory at Wrexham (The Argus, May 10), which stated Chris Iwelumo had arrived from Stoke "via the underside of the crossbar".

Alan Prosser, from Brighton, says: "While the striker's form has been exceptional, sadly the same cannot be said for your reporter's copy. Hopefully, he will have the chance to redeem himself at Cardiff."

Andy's report should, of course, have read "Iwelumo's goal had arrived".

Secondly, David Bennett points out our report on May 7 on the Davies and Tate golf matches was accompanied by a picture of the losing Dyke team instead of the winning Brighton and Hove team.

He also says we previewed Brighton and Hove's fixture against Horsham in the Sussex Cricket League the next day but said in the fixture they were playing Lewes! Thanks to both gentlemen.

Maurice Packham, from Horsham, asks me to tell theatre critic Mike Howard that Charles Dickens's Oliver Twist was published between 1837 and 1839 in serial form and not, as he stated in his review on Wednesday last week, in 1897.

Richard Symonds, from Ifield, Crawley, ticks us off for our headline in last Saturday's paper saying "European elections are (yawn) looming" above a story saying turnout is expected to be about 25 per cent.

"This is dangerous complacency and a disservice to readers," he says. "Our vote is absolutely critical in the European elections on June 10."

It's only fair to point out Mr Symonds is standing as an Independent candidate for Ifield in the council elections on the same day.

Now that appalling accident on the A23 near Pyecombe on Sunday and Simon Arthur-Smith, from Brighton, who says we were wrong to say in Monday's paper it was the crash with the highest-ever death count in Sussex.

In fact, we were wrong at the time because, as we reported the next day, that dubious honour went to a crash on the old A23 in October 1968 when seven people died. However, as we also reported on Tuesday, the final death toll for this latest tragedy was eight. Our sincere condolences to the families of the dead.

And finally, the last word on the move of our announcements page to the back half of The Argus to Margaret Carter, from Brighton, who says: "I never know where to find it. Before it was always in the same place (page 10)."

True enough, Margaret, but the page is always cross-referred to in the index on page 2 to make it easier to find.
