This year's rise in council tax has been crippling. We all have to pay for local services but I strongly object to paying for agency dustmen brought in to replace our hard-working, dedicated crews who have been suspended over an overtime dispute.

In reply to Bernie Dawes, (Letters, May 13), first of all may I say 65 years as a supporter is loyal and you are truly a loyal supporter. I love loyalty, especially away Albion fans.

Yes, I did roll under the East Terrace exit gates when I was ten. Being the youngest of eight we never got any pocket money. As for the railway, I received 16 free tickets for 23 years' service when I retired.

These were used up before the year ended. I only moved up north in 1989, I have been watching Albion at Hove since 1961 and away since 1963.

I used to travel up North on the supporters coach with the organisers. We used to leave St Peter's Church at 11pm on a Friday night. I joined the supporters club at this time and am still a member.

So please don't call me a "so-called supporter". Just ask the programme editor, supporters club chairman and any of my mates who know me.
