What a pleasure Southern Counties Radio was last week. Recently, I have only tuned in briefly for local news and travel then changed programmes to get away from primary school playtime.

Gone are the schoolgirl giggles, starstruck gossip and dismissal of local issues by Sarah Gorrell.

With Alison Ferns the BBC has found a professional who knows and is genuinely interested in Brighton and the surrounding area.

By showing an interest in local content she also brings out the best in the other contributors. Hopefully, the radio bosses will learn from this and help to reclaim local radio for the locals.
