David Lee today revealed his Albion future is in doubt following contract talks with manager Mark McGhee.

Lee is among eight players sweating over whether new deals will be offered to them for next season after Daniel Marney moved to Crawley last night.

The former Hull and Southend utility player is poised to lose his first team spot for Saturday's home game against Hartlepool, as Gary Hart is available again.

Lee was back in the Reserves last night after waiting more than two years to make his full League debut for Albion in last Saturday's defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

"That was a nice surprise," he said.

"I thought I did okay, apart obviously from the result.

"I've had a meeting with the gaffer and he said he is going to have to wait and see where we are next season, so it's touch and go for me."

Lee almost moved to Grimsby just before the transfer deadline. "Grimsby came in for me and I was all set with my bags to go up there," he said.

"The gaffer was away and then Nicky Law got two players in."

Veteran centre half Guy Butters, another of the players out of contract at the end of the season, has boosted his chances of a new deal.

McGhee said: "Prior to my appointment Guy had been getting a bit of stick, but he has been outstanding along with Richard Carpenter and Danny Cullip."

Adam Virgo, Dean Blackwell, Simon Rodger, John Piercy, Dean Hammond and Dan Beck are also out of contract in the summer.

Hartlepool have not taken up their full allocation for Saturday's visit and a number of tickets are available for Albion supporters.

Tickets can be purchased from the ticket office in person or by telephone on 01273 776969.
