Eastbourne Borough boss Garry Wilson believes his side is turning the corner after a goalless draw at Cambridge City halted a four-match losing run.
"It was a gritty performance," said Wilson. "They were probably the better side in the first half but we defended well.
"Later, the confidence started to come back, we distributed the ball better and created the better chances."
Early on, Borough were indebted to the brilliance of keeper Lee Hook for keeping them on level terms.
His superb double save, first to tip away a Simon Martin header and then to block a second attempt from the same player, was out of this world.
Hook received good support from his defence with Stuart Tuck rarely putting a foot wrong.
Borough could have snatched the points late in the game. Scott Ramsay twice failed to find the target from inside the box from a cross by Danny Simmonds and a nod on from Daren Pearce.
