A motorcyclist was in critical condition with severe leg injuries after a collision with a car this morning.
The accident happened on the C7 road between Lewes and Newhaven at Piddinghoe.
The road was closed and there were long traffic delays as emergency crews dealt with the crash.
A spokesman for Polegate Road Policing Department said: "There was a lot of traffic on the road anyway but obviously an accident during rush-hour has made it worse.
"The whole of the C7 will be closed for a short while but I couldn't say for how long and there are heavy queues."
