Leon Knight - Roy Race or Jacques Cousteau? After the events at Loftus Road on Sunday afternoon the debate will continue to rage.

Hand on heart, and in true Arsene Wenger style, I did not see the incident but there is certainly no grey area on this one.

If Rangers defender Clarke Carlisle did make contact then he should have been sent off, the Albion should have had a penalty and there is a fair chance they would still be in the LDV.

Or if he didn't make contact then Knight has not only put himself in line for a BAFTA nomination but he has tried, by cheating, to get a fellow member of the PFA sent off which is nothing short of despicable.

Thankfully video evidence has vindicated Leon. According to people who have seen the incident again contact was made so Albion were hard done by.

But, as Ron Atkinson is constantly telling us, "These things even out over the course of the season." I will have to remember that if QPR go on to win the LDV.

Leon Knight is entering a difficult stage in his career. Clearly he has got himself a bit of a reputation with referees to the point where, almost like the fable of the little boy who cried wolf, he is being fouled yet officials ignore it because of what may or may not have gone on before.

There's no doubt that he is a great player and I would love him to beat Peter Ward's record of 36 goals in season. But to have any chance of doing this he has got to try and stay on his feet a bit more.

As for QPR, I actually thought that despite a below-par first half Albion could have easily got a result with their spirited showing in the second period.

If, as the experts would have us believe, QPR are the best Division Two has to offer then I have no worries for Albion if they stay injury and relatively suspension free.

Get Mark Yeates for the whole season and perhaps, with a couple of further loan additions, Albion will be there or thereabouts come the shake-up in May.

Albion return to Loftus Road for league action next month and with Messrs Cullip and Piercy back in a full strength team I'd back them to come away with the points.

The atmosphere in Shepherds Bush on January 17 will certainly make up for not facing Crystal Palace this season.

Bring it on!

Principles are principles whatever your age. With Christmas nearly upon us, Hart the younger has been after a toy which Mrs Hart has hunted high and low for without success.

Her search had reached crisis point the other night when she announced that the only option left was a visit to the Goldstone Retail Park.

Quick as a flash my lad replied: "Well then I won't have it Mum, because we don't go shopping there."

That's my boy!

After the struggles Albion supporters have had to endure over the years, I do have some sympathy with the long-suffering Leeds United fans.

Their club has been mismanaged to the nth degree and now the loyal fans, who like their counterparts up and down the country truly are 'lifers', must watch as Leeds' existence is thrown into doubt.

It has probably been made worse this week with the news that £2million a year Nicky Barmby chooses, on a Leeds United home match day, to watch Hull City in his private box at the Tigers' new stadium.

I appreciate that someone somewhere at Elland Road, possibly the departed duo of Peter Risdale or Terry Venables, agreed to pay him this ludicrous figure, but in the club's current financial predicament I really do think if he had a shred of decency in him that Barmby would seriously think about giving the club some of the money back.
