Hundreds of pupils formed a giant choir for a festive concert in Brighton.
The 1,300 pupils from 39 primary and junior schools in Brighton and Hove took over the Brighton Centre last night for the Primary Schools Christmas Concert.
Peter Chivers, head of Brighton and Hove Music and Performing Arts, and Peter Walker, primary music curriculum co-ordinator for Brighton and Hove, led the children from years five and six through traditional and modern carols.
Hundreds of youngsters performed actions in time to the carol No Room at the Inn, and finished off the evening with the Twelve Days of Christmas.
Three extra conductors led the children through a complicated version of The Holly and the Ivy for which the choir was divided into three groups.
Cyran Beard, nine, of West Blatchington Junior School, Hove, said: "It is quite exciting. I have not been to the Brighton Centre before - it's huge."
Brighton & Hove Youth Concert Band performed Hercules soundtrack highlights and music from Rent, while Brighton and Hove Brass Ensemble included a rousing rendition of the Mission Impossible theme tune.
The concert is organised annually by the Brighton and Hove Music Service. Mr Chivers said after the performance: "It was a fantastic evening. The children sang so well."
