Albion midfielder Zesh Rehman is raring to go after recovering from a health scare.

The 20-year-old loan signing returned to training on Thursday and is set to return to the first team squad for Sunday's LDV Vans Trophy tie at promotion rivals QPR after finding the cause of a mystery illness.

He will be taking things with a pinch of salt in future, with his doctor's permission.

Rehman told The Argus: "I'd had dizziness since pre-season but I didn't want to say anything.

"My family were concerned so I had a few blood tests and they showed there was something wrong with my blood pressure. I had not got enough salt in my diet.

"My doctor has recommended that I drink more isotonic drinks as they have salt in them. I'll be taking things with a pinch of salt, literally.

"The results have put my mind at rest. It could have been serious."

Rehman's second loan period from Fulham expires at the visit of Brian Horton's Port Vale next week.

He disappointed in his first game under Mark McGhee, the 4-1 home defeat against Bristol City, and was relegated to the bench for the victory at Notts County before his illness sidelined him for the Wrexham win.

With Richard Carpenter and Mark Yeates forming a solid partnership in central midfield it was suggested McGhee might revise his original intention to keep Rehman on until the end of the season.

Rehman said: "We'll see what happens. I'm taking each day as it comes. I feel fine now and hope I can get into the squad for QPR. I didn't play well against Bristol City but you can't play well in every game."

McGhee still intends to try and keep Rehman for the rest of the season.

He said: "That's not changed. I'd still like to do that. He's definitely a good player. He had a poor game against Bristol but so did many of the team. Zesh still has the opportunity to play here if he wants to.

"I'll speak to Fulham and I'll also speak to Spurs about Mark Yeates, whose loan deal expires after the Port Vale game too."

Adam Virgo will have to serve a suspension after being sent off for violent conduct during the 1-0 Combination Cup win against QPR on Wednesday.

Virgo was shown red with Rangers duo Paul Furlong and Richard Pacquette. McGhee said: "According to my staff it was the wrong man that got sent off. Adam wasn't responsible.

"I don't think an appeal is possible so we'll just have to accept it and get on with it."
