Following the vote by councillors to approve closing East Brighton College of Media Arts (Comart), I would welcome comments from either Labour or Conservatives on the cosy relationship they enjoy.

The way in which they worked together in a spirit of unity, echoing each other's sentiments on this issue was quite extraordinary.

Never has there been so much loving up of political parties since the Lib/Lab pact of the Seventies.

Labour Councillor Gill Mitchell said: "I have attended all the consultation meetings."

Conservative councillor Vanessa Brown replied: "I have attended all the consultation meetings.".

Were they reading from the same notes?

At the family and schools meeting it was impossible to tell who were the Labour councillors and who were Tories - although they both misrepresented the whole argument equally.

Perhaps they may want to formalise their alliance on other issues as well?

Just think how many teachers they could sack if they worked together.

Or perhaps they could apply the same cosying-up methods to health?

If Comart closes, the Education Action Group will continue to fight to keep it open.

It should be left to stand empty as a permanent reminder to the people of East Brighton why they should never again trust Labour or Tory politicians who promise they will work for you.
