East Sussex League: Hellingly clinched the second promotion spot from division two finishing five pints clear of third placed Ditchling after taking 18 points from a draw at Battle.

Skipper Paul Wheatley hit 75 and Steve Vidler 45 not out as Hellingly made 240-5 declared. Battle were reduced to 70-5 in reply as Dave Pye (7-64) ripped in but Neil Mortimer's stubborn 73 not out helped them to 212-8 at the close.

Ditchling's failure to beat lowly Uckfield Anderida proved costly for them, although Uckfield did enough to avoid relegation.

Johnny Atkinson hit 58 as Ditchling made 210-8 with Jon Smart's 4-31 being the pick of the bowling. Atkinson then claimed 4-42 but Uckfield held out at 185-7 in reply with Peter Holman unbeaten on 41.

Wadhurst and Lewes St Michael's were both relegated after sharing a draw. Brough Cooper's 90 was the highlight of Wadhurst's 225-8 but it was not enough as St Michael's replied with 193-8, Phil Lucas scoring 64 not out and Mark Jordan 53.

Champions Iden finished with a win at home to Rottingdean. The visitors made 217-8 with R. Downes scoring 78 and skipper Andy Bird 60. David White then struck 65 to lead Iden to a one-wicket wicket, with Steve Johnson taking 4-41 for Rottingdean.

Matthew Knight hit 76 off 74 balls as St Peters made 210-8 at Barcombe helped the rain intervened and there was no further play after tea.
