Ulrich Ostergaard was the main man for Eastbourne Eagles as they lost their unbeaten British League Cup record at Swindon last night but still finished as group winners.

The recent Danish signing, who finished with a paid 11 points, was one of only two winners as the Sussex squad were overwhelmed 51-39.

Eastbourne's other win came from Dean Barker, the only victory in 13 attempts by the heat-leader trio of Barker, David Norris and Joonas Kylmakorpi.

Eagles, who had already qualified for the knockout stages, had no answer to Simon Stead, who scored a maximum, and Charlie Gjedde, who ended with a paid maximum. Stead was in Eastbourne's cup squad earlier in the season.

Swindon: Simon Stead 15, Charlie Gjedde 13, Chris Neath 8, Tommy Allen 7, Paul Fry 6, Ritchie Hawkins 2.

Eastbourne: Ulrich Ostergaard 8, David Norris 8, Dean Barker 7, Gary Stead 7, Joonas Kylmakorpi 6, Wayne Barrett 2, Dean Felton 1.

Eastbourne face Peterborough Panthers in an Elite League match tonight at Arlington Stadium (7.30).
