A driver was seriously hurt when his car careered off the A24 near Worthing.
The 22-year-old man, from Storrington, was driving south near Findon on Saturday when his Mitsubishi Evolution was in collision with a Vauxhall Astra.
Both vehicles left the road and the Mitsubishi was badly damaged.
Police said the crash caused traffic jams. The road was not closed.
The Mitsubishi driver was admitted to the intensive care ward at Worthing Hospital with serious spinal injuries.
