Bouquets today marked the spot in East Sussex where a businessman was gunned down by a contract killer on a motorbike.

The poignant tributes to Ken Harvey included messages from his children.

One read: "Dear Dad, You were a wonderful father and I am very proud of you. Missing you and loving you for ever. Kris."

Another message attached to a spray of flowers read: "Dear Dad, Love and miss you forever. Always in my heart. Love, Louise."

The blooms were laid overnight on the country road near Battle where Mr Harvey, 44, was blasted three times at point-blank range through the window of his silver Mercedes.

Yesterday the 44-year-old's widow Tania, 32, made a tearful plea for help in catching her husband's murderers.

Police have put up a £10,000 reward for help in convicting the killer.

Detectives said the Kawasaki 750 bike the gunmen used in the killing had been stolen from Islington, north London, in June.

Mr Harvey had stopped at 6.45am on Monday by crossroads at Cripp's Corner, near Battle. The motorcycle's pillion passenger got off and fired through his window, hitting him in the head and body.

Doctors switched off Mr Harvey's life support machine at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings on Wednesday.
