Darius Henderson wants to follow Leon Knight's lead by staying with Albion for longer.

The Reading youngster is keen to stretch his month on loan from Reading after strike partner Knight completed his free transfer move from Chelsea yesterday afternoon.

Henderson, 21, said: "The lads at Reading are doing superbly, so I can't see any changes there.

"I am just looking forward to getting games under my belt and if that means extending to another month here that would be good.

"I think the only thing that is going to take me back to Reading is if someone gets injured, so I will be looking to extend if all goes well."

Henderson, returning to his native Yorkshire to face Barnsley tomorrow, has even hinted at copying Knight by eventually turning a loan move into a permanent one.

"I don't want to say anything just yet but my contract is up at the end of the year and it's just nice to be wanted."

Albion's little and large partnership have scored five goals between them in the first two League games.

Henderson has played his part by slotting a penalty on the opening day at Oldham, then setting up Knight's fourth goal for the Seagulls against QPR on Monday.

Now Henderson is looking forward to continuing his prolific alliance with Albion's new mini marvel until at least early October.

"Leon has got a lot of skill, a lot of pace and I think we work well together.

"What I like the most is he has got a bit of craft about him. He is clever and he'll look to play you in.

"He will get the team goals, I've no doubt about that.

"We both want to score, but the main objective is that we play well for the team so that Brighton do well.

"At the end of the day myself and Leon have got to have good service and so far the team have been superb."

Andrei Kanchelskis is still thinking about Albion's offer of a three-month contract.

The former Manchester United winger, based in East Grinstead, has been training with the Seagulls since early August.
