Organisers of an annual festival have revealed plans for a city's first winter Pride.

The Pride in Brighton and Hove Committee is already working on the event, which will run from November 23 to 30.

Details of the week-long festival have been unveiled following the success of this summer's Pride, which attracted more than 90,000 people.

The event has become a permanent fixture in the city's calendar.

It is hoped the winter event will feature fashion, comedy, classical music and film, as well as a lifestyle event, culminating in a torchlight procession to mark World Aids Day.

It will focus not only on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community but also appeal to a wider cross-section.

The week will also aim to raise money for Pride and the voluntary sector in Brighton and Hove, particularly groups working with people suffering from HIV and AIDS-related illnesses.

Now committee members, who say the winter event is still in the initial planning stages, want to hear from anyone interested in organising a specific event for the festival.

Martyn Roberts, treasurer for Pride, said: "It's very much in the early planning stages.

"We have an idea of the events we would like and we want it to be a community event."
