Spit attacks on train staff, smokers, chewing gum decorators and thoughtless bladder relievers all point to a change in society's indifference to yobs and criminals.
It is intolerable that the legal profession can make a burglar safer than the burgled.
The nation's morals seem to be getting worse. Perhaps there is a case for bringing back the town centre stocks.
New train toilets are already being put out of action by vandals and covered in graffiti. Some rural trains have only one out-of-action toilet on long journeys.
